Ok, here is a little tip for all you rifle shooters out there!!! About three years ago, I shot somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 shotgun shells--both competitively and for practice. Then deer hunting season came along and I drug out the trusty 30.06. Well guess what, after you have shot that many shotgun shells at moving targets---
YOU CANNOT "squeeze" off a good shot with a rifle!!!
haha Needless to say, I missed several shots at some pretty nice deer! I tried different rifles, different shooting positions, and everything else I could imagine. My hunting partner who is just as competitive as I am was having a ball laughing at me!! Finally I figured it out! We decided to go rabbit hunting so I took along the old .17 caliber remington. The first rabbit appeared and I leaned across the hood and beared down on the bunny--well when I jerked the trigger so hard that the gun about flew over the pickup I realized that "trigger squeeze" is NOT an issue with a shotgun!!
How did I fix it??
Well, I would recommend putting some "Snap Caps" in your rifle, pistol or any other weapon you may have with a trigger and practice "Squeezing the trigger". This will help ensure that your subconscious mind will allow you to do this when the shot counts!!!
